Helping Prostate Cancer Research Foundation
Prostate Cancer Research Foundation currently funds 17 research projects around the world
The facts regarding prostate cancer are sobering, in the UK one man dies every hour from prostate cancer, that’s 24 men daily, and over 10,000 annually. And lets face it, the only thing that is really going to change this is money. We need money to research what causes prostate cancer, we need to fund research into a more reliable test, and above all we need to put more money into research into treatments will fewer side effects.
You may well be asking why you should give us your money, well, we are currently the only organisation that organises conferences attended by interested specialists world-wide to exchange information, ideas and suggestions, and also to appraise colleagues of the latest available research – and this is really important, as we don’t want to be duplicating work.
By making a donation to Prostate Cancer Research Foundation you will be directly helping over 30,000 men each year.
You can Help
You can help by speaking to your male friends and alerting them to be vigilant for warning signs.
Men over 50 should ask their GP for a PSA test - although not as accurate as is required, it is nevertheless a useful indicator and the best there is. We are currently funding research to find more effective testing.
Check your family history. If prostate cancer occurs in your family, then make sure you and all other males in the family are tested regularly.
Involve Government
Write to your local MP and ask why more is being spent on breast cancer than prostate cancer in the UK.
After all, it is only through funding that improved testing and nationwide screening can be introduced.
